Kabe no Ana Pasta

We spotted this Japanese pasta restaurant amidst several Japanese restaurants in Shokutsu 10 – a Japanese indoor food street at the at nex mall in Serangoon.

The Onsen Tamago Meat Sauce & Salmon Ebi Cream set ($15.90++) comes with 2 smaller portions of the pastas and a salad with soup of the day.

Salmon Ebi Cream

The Meat sauce for the Onsen Tamago was well flavoured and crowned with a poached egg. On the other hand, the creamed based Salmon Ebi tasted a little too fishy.

Mentai Cream Sauce ($13.90++)

The Mentai Cream Sauce got to be our favourite. Scallop and shimeji mushroom with cod roe carbonara sauce were wonderful blend.

LENAS

Visited Jurong Point on Saturday and it was frustratingly packed. Queues were all over the popular restaurants and carpark lots were hard to get. We spotted LENAS at 3rd level of JP2 Mall which was filled with christmas and bustling atmosphere, but a not-so-scary queue. 

To our surprise, we found out that LENAS is under Ministry of Food (MOF) and just right beside the restaurant, was the MOF の My Izakaya (Japanese dining). Henceforth, patrons of both restaurants can order food from both the menu of LENAS or MOF. How cool is it to be spoilt for choices like this.

Smoked Duck Pasta ($14.90++)

We like the Smoked Duck Pasta! The savoury smoked duck went well with the sweet tomato sauce and chewy spaghetti. For all their pastas, you could choose your base from either tomato, cream or spicy aglio olio.

Italian Sausage Pizza - 12" ($17.50++)

Italian Sausage Pizza - Tomato Sauce, Mozzarella,
Italian Sausage, and Mushrooms

We were quite disappointed with the pizza . In whole, the pizza tasted pretty average and the mushrooms were quite smelly. It tasted like it was not fresh or not well-cooked. The sausage was good though and the thin crust made it less filling as compared to the normal bread pizzas.

I think it's good place for family and gathering, especially those with big groups. The extensive menu can satisfy many and the desserts and drinks menu looked tantalising too.

The Hot Tomato Cafe & Grill located at the basement 3 of 313 @ Somerset amongst a pool of restaurants and eateries. We decided to try this chic-looking and lifestyle restaurant with a menu of grills, pasta, steaks and etc. 

Lobster Pasta is one of the chef recommendations on the menu. The pasta looked a little disappointing as I imagined the lobster meat to be bigger as seen on the image on the menu. Nonetheless, the pasta tasted good with the garlic and well-cooked spaghetti. 

On the other hand, the Grilled Rib Eye Steak was a rather big portion with the spaghetti that we did not expect since it was not in the menu description. A pretty decent grill and pasta.

Turkey Bacon Cheesy Crumble ($7.80)

The Turkey Bacon Cheesy Crumble comes with turkey bacon in cheese sauce topped with parmesan crumbles.

Marinara ($11.10)

Marinara comes with prawns, squid & clams in tomato herb sauce. I liked both the pastas as they tasted just right. The cheesiness of the Turkey Bacon Cheesy Crumble taste just right and the parmesan crumbles added to the flavour for the dish. On the other hand, Marinara was sweet and the seafood were a good mix with the tomato sauce.

Oh, they provide delivery too. I think pastas only taste the best when we have it immediately when served, so I imagine how would it taste if its delivered to our doorsteps?

Yomenya Goemon serves Japanese and Western style pastas. Their pastas come in generous portions of spaghetti an flavourful ingredients.

Smoked Chicken & Four Cheeses is a creamy based pasta slathered with cheese. A good choice for cream and cheese lover. The spinach did also naturalised the dose of cream and cheese. On the other hand, Tara Asari is the Japanese style pasta with delicious clams with seafood and garlic flavouring.

Pasta lovers should give it a go!
